THRILLS IN ‘F.P.I.”
rpilE him, “F.F.1.,” an imaginative drama of a floating depot for aircraft of the future, is being made by the Ufa Company on a lavish scale. Erich Bommer is producing it, and Gaumont British are collaborating with him iu Germany in the production of the English version.- The latter has, in addition to Conrad Veldt, who also plays in the German version, Donald Galthrop, Jill Esmond, and Leslie Fenton lin leading roles. The adventures experienced in the film by the British trio are thrilling. Starting with a mild affair of fire engines dashing through Hamburg’s streets thronged with crowds controlled by police cordons, they have played scenes on moving gantreys hundreds of feet above ground. They have “crashed” in an aeroplane on to a specially constructed landing stage in mid-ocean, they are almost drowned in the “sinking” of the floating dock, and have to escape with difficulty in motor-boats, For filming the earlier scenes of “F.P.1.” the great shipbuilding yard where the Leviathan was built was placed at the disposal of the associated Gaumont British and Ufa producers.
