Monoplane at Tauranga By Telegraph—Press Association. Tauranga, Jan. 25. In perfect'weather, and with but a slight breeze, and in tiie presence of some 3000 people, Sir Charles Kingsford Smith made a perfect landing at 10.30 this morning at the Tauranga Aerodrome, on the Waikareo Estuary. Sir Charles left Wanganui at 8.30 a.m., and made a good tri]) across, visibility over the island being perfect. On his arrival at the aerodrome, Sir Charles was met by the Mayor, Mr, B. C. Robbins, president of the Aero Club, Mrs. Hewlett, and representatives of tfie Harbour Board. County Council, Returned Soldiers’ Association, and representatives of tiie Maori race. The Mayor, in a short speech, welcomed Sir Charles and his party to Tauranga. -Mrs. Hewlett also extended a welcome, and as an appreciation from the Tauranga Aero and Gliding Club presented Sir Charles with a club badge, and made him a life member. Sir Charles, in reply, thanked the Mayor, Mrs. Hewlett, and other speakers for the welcome extended to him and the members of his party. He said he was honoured to be made a life member of the Tauranga Aero and Gliding Club.

The Southern Cross is engaged in passenger flights, and will leave tomorrow for Walhi.
