Kindness to Animals Competition
One hundred and seventy entries were received for the Hugo essay competition this year, the pupils being drawn from 30 schools. The awards were as follow;— Standard VI, "The Animal Most Useful to Man”: Archie Annear, Resolution Bay, 1; Briar: Kelly, “Star of the Sea,” Seatoun, 2; Daphne Meyer, Otaki. 3. Highly commended: John Clulow, Ilinemoa; Jack O’Shea, "Star of the East,” Seatoan ; Ernest Langridge, Blind River; Patricia Lloyd, Masterton West; Marie Abbott, Judgeford.
