DESIGNER OF LINER
Building a Record-breaker (Reuter —Letter from Loudon.) Everyone has been talklug about the plans to rebuild tbe Cunard liner 534, for so long laid up iu its yard on the Clyde, so that it will be the greatest and fastest ship iu the world. But no one has been talking about Mr. G. McL. Paterson, the man who is responsible for all the designs. During tlie year’s suspension of work he has continually revised and improved his plans, as the details of such rival liners as the Rex and the Normandie came to light. Now he has made sure that the new Cunarder will be a recordbreaker. He will not talk to journalists about himself or tbe ship, but everyone knows that his whole life’s ambitions are centred on her successful completion.
