Smoking is said to be slowly losing favour with women, who are estimated to consume one-tenth of the total of 45,000,000,000 cigarettes smoked in Britain in a year. Women air pilots in Britain who hold i commercial license have to submit themselves for re-examination every four months, or their license expires. The period for men is every six months.
