CANTERBURY ATHLETES
Appearance at Hastings By Telegraph.—Press Association. Hastings. Jan. 25. The touring Canterbury athletes appeared at Hastings this evening before a record attendance for the season, Mulvey, in an exhibition pole vault, there being no other competitors, cleared 10ft. Gin., his best performance so far of the tour. McFarlane ran both the 100 yards and the furlong, Ell captured the mile comfortably, and Matthews filled second place in the half-mile. A similar position was secured by McGregor in the 120 yards hurdles. The remaining Canterbury athlete, Broadway, failed to gain a place tn the 440 yards, Ihe only event in which a visitor was not placed.■
