WEEK-END CONDITIONS Tile hot, muggy weather which prevailed for the greater part of last week gave way on Friday night to westerly showers, which proved beneficial to parched gardens in the city and suburbs. f

Warm showers fell early on Saturday.morning, but the sun prevailed, and the day remained fine until about 5 • p.,m. ( when heavy clouds came from the north, and showers fell at frequent intervals throughout Saturday night. The wind changed to the south on Sunday, and there was an appreciable drop in the temperature. • Light showers fell yesterday morning, followed by a spell of fine weather, but further light showers fell in the afternoon.

The glass commenced to rise last evening, giving prospects of a fine day for the Anniversary holiday to-day. Farmers and gardeners should benefit as a result of the rain over the weekend, as the showers were of the warm, generous kind which compels growth. The prolonged spell of fine weather experienced in the Wairarapa was broken at the week-end, advises “The Dominion’s” correspondent. Light showers fell on Friday night and Saturday night, and yesterday morning heavy rain fell In all parts of the district. The weather was warm and sultry, and the showers were accompanied by thunder. Temperatures became milder, to-day.
