AT THE ALSATIAN DOG SHOW
Some Fine Specimens on View
It was a pity more people did not attend the Alsatian Shepherd Bog Show on Saturday at the Winter Show building, for it was decidedly worth while. Some excellent dogs were shown. The obedience test, which was held outside, attracted favourable comments from all the onlookers, who thoroughly enjoyed the good work and the playfulness of the dogs. One delightful young dog, trained by a girl, apparently felt the whole thing was an amusing game, and romped in complete abandon, quite forgetting to “fetch his owner’s handky.” The dogs who were placed first (Materlink Marcus) and second (Rex of Kilmartin), both showed wonderful intelligence, and the former champion, Rexdalc Radiance, did some very clever work, but, she wanted to romp and play rather than “hunt for the leash.” When the show ended great was the excitement of the dogs as they were unleashed and taken out.
One small three months old puppy, Max, was taken to see the show, and sat contentedly with his master and mistress watching with pricked cars and wagging tail the antics of the dogs in the show.
The enjoyment of these dogs on Saturday riding in their owners’ motorcars brings to mind the fact that dogs have taken to the motor-car very quickly. They love riding on them, both inside and out.
