TESTED TIPS

Jewellery requires regular cleaning if it is to look, its best. A’o powder is necessary; unless it is very dirty or tarnished a solution of ammonia and warm water is quite adequate, polishing afterwards with a chamois leather. For ■very soiled jewellery or beads, use soapsuds and a. very >-soft brush, and scrub them gently. Then rinse in clear water and dry with a leather. To thread a necklace of graduated beads, it is a good idea to arrange them in a groove of corrugated cardboard, so that they do not roll about. Work from the middle, beginning with the largest bead and placing the next largest on each side.

If the thread is soaped, it will stiffen it for tiny holes where a 'needle cannot be used, and the soap will also serve to strengthen and prevent the thread from knotting.
