As it was, Betty put up a sterling performance, and sailed by her well-known' skipper, A rthur Johnston, romped home with almost seven minutes to spare from Idono. Betty established the lead soon after the start, and over a long course was never challenged by any other boat. The Port Nicholson boat, Sue-lem, was third. In the Duncan Cup race, for onedesign Takapuna boats. Torment actuallyfinished one second ahead of Nolcen, but the judges disqualified Torment for not carrying the necessary identification numas provided for in the rules. Torment was sailed by the crew that is to represent Plinnncrton at the Cornwell Cun contest at Lyttelton this month. The course for the Inter-club Cup race was set from Evans Bay club-house to Kio Bay (near Balemt Bay) to Shag Point to the starting line, three times round; that of the Duncan Cup race from the patent slip to Shag. Point to bathing sheds buoy to a line off the club-house, twice round: and the Tauranga class boats went from the patent slip to the bathing sheds buoy to a finishing line off the club-house, twice round.
