Struck Over Head by Intruder With Revolver
£6 TAKEN FROM TILL
Armed with a revolver, a man entered the fruit shop of Ngan Chong, 6 Moxham Avenue, Hataitai, recently, and struck a Chinese over the head with it, robbing the till of £G in notes. The injuries necessitated the removal of the Chinese to hospital.
The owner of the shop, Ngan ChOiig, left the premises at 9.30 p.m., leaving Ngan Kay, aged 60, in charge, At 10.55 p.m. a man with a felt hat pulled well down over his eyes entered the shop and immediately went behind the counter, pulling out a revolver as he did so.
As the old man went to run away the intruder hit him over the head several times with the gun. Ngan Kay escaped to the street and called for assistance. Meantime the intruder robbed the till, and then followed Ngan Kay to , the door, where a struggle took, place. A white man, hearing Ngan Kay”s cries for assistance, ran toward the shop, but as he did so the robber let go of the Chinaman and made his escape. Although Ngan' Kay is still in hospital, he is reported to be making good progress. No.arrest has yet been made.
