H.oll the duster tip tight until the oil has permeated it thoroughly, irhen. it will make an excellent polishing duster for furniture. f>ilk lamp-shades may safely be washed in water unless the silk has perished and become very fragile. Make a lather with soap-flakes and dip the shade up and down in the sitw until clean. Then rinse in clear, water and remove as inittch moisture as possible with a dry cloth.
If a silk shade has faded, it can he re-tinted with cold-water dye. Provided there is no contrasting trimming or fringe, the shades may bo dipped bodily into the dye: otherwise the dye should be painted on quickly white the shade is still wet.
