STILL SINGING
QEVENTY-ONE years of age, Madame Ernestine Schumann-lleink. formerly one of the greatest operatic contraltos in the world, is still singing in four-a-day vaudeville in U.S.A. On a recent occasion some wealthy New York women were sympathising with her. and spoke pityingly of her comedown in the world.
“You, you have rich husbands,” said Schumann-lleink, “and your husbands are jumping out of ten-story windows. That is a come-down, huh!”
