VATICAN’S PROTEST
Baptism of Royal Princess Sofia, Jan. 16. Monsignor Roncalli, Apostolic Delegate, protested to the Premier regarding the baptism of the Royal Princess in the Orthodox Church, instead of as pledged, in the Catholic faith. The Premier replied that the Princess had been baptised by the decision of the head of the State and the Government in conformity with a stipulation in the Constitution and the will of the nation. Monsignor Ronealli also protested to the King. It is emphasised that the baptism was secret, only the Premier and two others previously being aware of the decision.
