OBITUARY
Mr. John Burton Mr. John Burton, a well-known master baker, of Auckland, died on Sunday, aged 83 years. Mr. Burton was a member of the Auckland City Council during the mayoralty of his nephew, Sir Janies Gunson. and was for some years chairman of the council’s parks committee. For many years lie held various offices in tlie Auckland Master Bakers’ Association, including that of president. Mrs. Burton died 11 years ago. He is survived by a family of seven sons and two daughters. Mr. William Kennedy Mr. William Kennedy, of Sugarloaf Road, Brooklyn, died at Wellington on Saturday afternoon. The late Mr. Kennedy, who was 85 years of age, was born in Paisley. Scotland, and came to New Zealand 53 years ago, setting tip in business as a blacksmith at Pleasant Point, South Canterbury, where he lived for many years, later coming to Wellington. Mr. Kennedy’s wife died about five years ago. He leaves a son. Mr. D. R. Kennedy, of Brooklyn, and there are four grandchildren. The funeral, which will be private, will take place this morning.
