British Manufacturers ' Much Concerned
JAPANESE ACTIVITIES (Received Jan. 17, 5.5 p.m.) London, Jan. 16. During a visit to Manchester, Mr. Stanlev Bruce, Australian Minister in London, found cotton manufacturers extremely despondent at the extent of Japanese competition and Japan’s ability heavily to undersell competitors despite tariffs.. They were also apprehensive of losing their grip on the Australian cotton trade t 0 Visiting -Bradford, Mr. Bruce found than the woollen manufacturers were also concerned fearing that Japans recent heavy purchases of Australian wool might lead when military requirements had been fulfilled to the exploitation of the Commonwealth market at the expense of British and Australian interests.
