Macmillan Brown was unanimously re-elected Chancellor of the New Zealand University, and the Hon. J. A. Hanan was re-elected proChancellor, at the annual meeting of the senate yesterday. Mr. G. W, Reid, of the Railways Board, arrived in Wellington yesterday from the South Island, and left later for the north on business connected witli tlie board. He will probably return to the South Island ou Monday evening. Mr. O. C. Cox, who lias been manager of tlie Christchurch branch of the D.I.C. for the last 16 years, intends to retire from that position in a mouth's time. Mr. Cox is a member of the Employers’ Association, a past president of tlie Drapers’ Association, and a member of the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce. For two years lie was president of tlie Canterbury Bowling Chili.

Sir William Perry was last evening congratulated b.v the Dominion executive of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union upon tlie honour conferred upon him recently by his Majesty the King. The chairman, Mr. W. J. Polson. M.P-. said that Sir William was an outstanding producer in New Zealand. “We feel.” said Mr. Polson, “ that the honour that has iieeu done to him is an honour to the whole farming community, and I think he lias been selected as a very worthy representative of this Dominion Tor this honour.”
