Annual Wairarapa Ram Fair DEMAND FOR CHOICE LOTS Dominion Special Service. ' Masterton, Jan. 17.
The fifteenth annual stud ram and ewe fair of the Wairarapa Stud Sheepbreeders’, was held at Solway Showgrounds today, i\nd attracted a fairly full and representative bench of buyers. The animals came forward in good condition. Choice lots were well sought after, and prices were a good deal better than anticipated. Only the better sorts were required, however, and consequently 56 of the 88 rams offered had to be passed in. Top price was secured by Sir William Perry, who disposed bf a fine Romney ram to Mr. A T. Hunter, of Wanganui, at 102 guineas. Sir William’s offering practically dominated the market, and he disposed of 27 rams at an average price of approximately 331 guineas. The average price for the sale was approximately 311 guineas. ■ , , No ewes were offered, the 150 entered not coming forward. The fair opened badly, not a single sale being effected in the morning, when stud Lincolns and Southdowns were offered. One sale was later effected by private treaty.
