GROTESQUE LIZARDS
Shoot Blood from Eyes CONFOUNDING ENEMIES (Reuter.— Special to “The Dominion.”) Lizards which shoot a jet of blood at their enemies have arrived at the London Zoo from the South-easterh United States. They are grotesque-looking creatures bristling with spines all over, those on the head being nearly half an inch in length. In spite of their alarming appearance, these reptiles are comparatively hnrinliiss, Their formfdableIpoking armour is never used for attack. They have, however, a strange hut effective means of ; confounding their tormentors by squirting fine jets of blood at them with tremendous force from the corner of the eyes, One of these jets will, for the time, make it difficult for a pursuer which is struck to spe clearly. , After spurting the blood, the lizards become limp, and for some time remain as if dead. On being irritated again, and reviving from their stupor, they will once more become enraged ami repeat the same extraordinary performance.
