HUTT VALLEY NEWS

Harvesting has proceeded rapidly in the Hutt Valley, and haystacks, large and sgiall, give a distinctly rural atmosphere to the district. Taita, in particular, .s thickly studded with heaps of hay and oats. Large crowds of holiday-makers have been visiting the Day's Bay beach during the holiday season, and as a' precaution against accidents a police .constable has been stationed in the district. Normally the Day’s Bay area is controlled by the Eastbourne police. - In the last few days Eastbourne has witnessed an influx of city dwellers. Some hundreds have taken up temporary residence in holiday baches, and the streets and beaches are thronged with tennis players' and bathers.
