Old silk stockings make a useful stuffing for garden cushions and pillows. Prepare a ease of the required size and fill it with the silk portions of tip: stockings, or other silk knitwear, snipped into small pieces. When full, sew it up and slip it into an outer cover of bright mutcrial, and the result will be (/utto satisfagtorii. White or light-coloured fell hats may bo cleaned with a mixture of two commodities on hand and salt. Take two tablcspoonsful of dry flour and one of fine salt; mix well and rub it into the felt with a piece of flannel, afterwards brushing it out with a clean, stiff brush. This method is also useful for cleaning light cloth facings on dark garments provided they are not too soiled.
