TESTED TIPS
(By Vera Wise.) Copyright. Intending campers should, not forget to pack a .small first-aid. outfit in the kit, ns accidents will happen on the best regulated holidays. This should include, a small fiask of brandy; iodine for cuts; vaseline for rubbed heels, carbonate of soda for stings and. burns; boracic solution and an eye-cup, and, finally a roll of bandage, a. few safetypins and, a small pair of scissors. All this will, pack into a very small compass, and may prove invaluable in emergency. For skin which has been roughened and dried by exposure to sun. and, wind, plain almond oil is an. excellent emollient. .4 sixpenny bottle ivill last quite a. long time, and owing to its penetrative quality, will be found to have a more smoothing and cleansing effect than face-creams. Dusting with boracic powder or Fuller’s earth is the best preventive measure against sunburn. Do not apply oil while still exposed to the sun, but Carron oil applied at night will prove soothing.
