LORRY OVER BANK
Driver Has Narrow Escape A lucky escape from serious injury was experienced by Mr. J. Wilson when a motor-lorry he was driving went over the bank near the summit of the I’aekakariki Hill on Saturday morning. The lorry, which was being operated by Campbell and Bond, of AVellington, was beiug towed up the hill, and tvas approaching the turning place AVhen the tOAV rope broke. Feeling the lorry running backward, the driver was able to jump clear just before it disappeared over the bank. The lorry came to rest a . considerable way down the slope, which was strewn Avith furniture, but several parts continued on. breaking a telegraph post at the bottom. The engine itself landed in the sea, close to live railway workmen.
