INTENSE CAMPAIGN
Boycott in Irish Free State SALES OF BRITISH GOODS London, Dec. 11. The "Evening News” correspondent in Dublin says that Republican boycotters arc intensifying their campaign of intimidating shopkeepers and agents for selling British goods. The boycotters have been much encouraged by a statement by the Minister of Finance, Mr. Sean McEntee, who said that tradesmen must bear the consequences of flouting public opinion. His statement that police protection would be given anyone complaining of intimidation is regarded as valueless, as a trader applying for protection would only make his position worse. The boycotters are mostly members of the Republican Army. Mr. W. T. Cosgrave, speaking at Cork, announced that his party intended to take legal action against the Government to dispose of its claim to misappropriate the land annuities. The most important element of the party’s policy was the proposed negotiation of a trade agreement with Britain securing a return of the market which the Government’s pernicious tactics had destroyed.
