Mr. Justice Frazer returned from the South Island yesterday. Sir William Hunt arrived in Wellington from the south yesterday.
Sir Donald McGavln returned to Wellington from the South Island yesterday morning. Sir Berkeley Sheffield and his sister. Lady Arthur Grosvenor, London, left Wellington for Christchurch last evening. Sir Cecil Leys, of New Zealand Newspapers Ltd., passed through Wellington yesterday on his way to Christchurch.
Mr. L. I. I’artou, son of Mr. W. A. Parton, Wellington, lias passed his final medical examinations at Otago University. The Rev. F. Stillwell, of Perth, is due to arrive here from Australia next month. He is to visit the chief places of interest in the North Island before visiting Wellington, and later will tour the South Island. Dr. I. L. G. Sutherland, lecturer in psychology, Victoria University College, who has been engaged on Polynesian research in the Cook Islands and French Oceanica for the last ten weeks, returned by the Makura yesterday. Mr. M. E. Priestley, of Auckland, returned to New Zen land from an extended tour abroad by the Makura, which arrived at Wellington from San Francisco yesterday morning. Mr. Priestley left for Auckland by the Limited express hist evening. Mr. L. T. Highley ma n, of Miami. Florida, arrived at Wellington by the Makura from San Francisco yesterday morning. Mr. Highleyman, who is on a world tour, will remain in New Zealand until early in the New Year, when be will proceed to Sydney. Mr. Denis S. Hart, son of Mr. H. S. Hart, ot karori, and an ex-pupil of Wellington College, has completed his course with distinction at the Feilding Agricultural High School, obtaining the certificate in agriculture and winning the Allen Brothers’ rose-bowl for merit.
Dr. L. S. Talbot, of Timaru, arrived nt Wellington by the Makura from San Francisco yesterday morning. Dr. Talbot, who has been doing post-grad-uate work in London and Edinburgh for nearly twelve months past, returned via Canada and the United States of America. He left for Lyttelton by the ferry steamer last evening. Advice has been received from London that the following New Zealanders have been admitted to membership of the Institution of Electrical Engineers:—As associate member (A.M.I. E.E.) : K. Beaglehole. B.Sc. (Wellington)’, and IT. R. Boule (Wellington). As student (student I. E. E.) : T-I. W. H. Louie (Hastings).
