A ceremony, believed to be _ without precedent in the history of education, took place nt Barking. England, on October C, when Sir Henry Hadow, chairman of the Consultative Committee of Education, opened six new. schools which have' been built by the local authority; The schools have become necessary principally because of the development of the London County Council Becontree estate. They accommodate 5440 pupils. ■
