CAR CAPSIZES

Three Young People Injured

TWO TAKEN TO HOSPITAL Dominion Special Service. Auckland, Dec. 12. Two girls received concussion, and a young man suffered a gash on the head when a Sedan motor-car,. in which they were driving, capsized in a spectacular manner on Waterfront Road, near Point Resolution . at about 9.30 to-night. A tourtli occupant, another young man, escaped with a shaking. The two-girls, both of whom were admitted to the Auckland Hospital, were MISS VALOMA BLANCHE SHEPHERD, aged 17, domestic, of < Onehuuga. MISS PEARL ELLEN ROBERTSON, aged 18, domestic, of Epsom. The driver of the car, Jack Vernou Walton; quartermaster from the Shaw, Savill and Albion liner Mataroa, whose head was cut by flying glass, had several .stitches inserted at the hospital but was not admitted, while the fourth occupant, Allen Pearce, was not hurt. Neither of the girls was in a serious condition at a late hour. In view of the nature of the accident, the occupants all had extremely lucky escapes. The body of the car was almost completely wrecked, the top being squashed when the car capsized.

The car was travelling toward Orakei and was on a straight piece of road when the accident occurred. There were no witnesses of the accident, although other motorists travelling near by heard a crash and came back to lend help. It was evident, however that a car containing four people had rolled completely over and came to res' facing toward the city, having turned round as well as capsized. Broken glass was scattered over t Incentre of the roadway where the cap size had evidently occurred, while the car itself was a little distance away almost in the gutter on the other side of the road.

The whole of the top of the car was smashed almost beyond recognition. Both the windscreen supports had collapsed, the screen being shattered, while the framework of the roof had fallen on top of the front seat.
