MOVIES BY CHURCH
Innovation at Seatoun Tn conjunction with a motion picture entertainment, a varied display of physical culture and gymnastics was given last week in the Presbyterian Hall, Seatoun, when trained squads under the direction of Captain J. Duffy gave an excellent exhibition of physical' culture. Balancing “stunts” were done by a senior team from the Y.M.C.A., and “pyramids” and other items by a fine smartly-uniformed team from Scots College. The "Speed-o-ents” Club from the Y.M.C.A. also gave ■ a bright display of rod and lund drills and posing for statues. Vocal items of popular description were ■ provided by visiting'artists.' ■■' Mrs. Oliver ' presided as accompanist 1 * . • A feature of the entertainment was the screening for the first time of several moving' pictures, the managers of the church having recently had built an up-to-date fire-proof projection box.' The.managers of the church anticipate a greater future usO of “movies” in relation to missionary enterprise, and also believe that by selecting right programmes this constructive action will tend to develop in church youth discrimination in taste, and do more to correct present undesirable features than merely negative or prohibitive criticism Mr. B. Anderson, on ■ behalf of- the managers, explained the. church’s objective in taking, the initiaitve with pictures, and expressed thanks to all who had'contributed to a first-class entertainment. ’• ,
