BOXER’S NARROW WIN
Chocolate beats Labara FIGHT LIKE WHIRLWIND (Received Dec. 11, 6.30 p.m.) New York. Dec. 10. Chocolate retained his title by a narrow margin in a fight against. Labara, the referee voting the verdict a draw and two judges voting for Chocolate. Some newspaper boxing experts are giving Labara eight rounds to his opponent’s seven. The bout was featured by brilliant defensive and offensive ring work. Labara conserved his strength and opened a terrific attack near the end of the bout and almost secured a knockout once when Chocolate was dizzy. However, Chocolate fought his usual whirlwind fight, never declining to exchange the flurries of blows to the face and body with advantage. The bout alternated back and forth, with Chocolate winning rounds, including the first and fifteenth. Chocolate’s weight and reach gave him material aid. UNPOPULAR DECISION Carnera beats Levinsky (Received Dec. 11, 6.30 pm.) Chicago, Dec. 10. Carnera was. awarded an unpopular decision over Levinsky in a ten-round bout last night.
