ASSAULT ON FREEZER
Thrown Out of Hotel FINE OF £5 IMPOSED By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Nov. 21. For assaulting a freezing worker in an hotel. George Whye, aged 22, was convicted and fined £5, in default one month’s imprisonment, at the Otahuhu Police Court to-day. The police said that complainant, who was working at Westfield, was in the hotel when accused entered, abused him for accepting work, and then picked him up by the collar and threw him out of the door.
Several police witnesses repudiated statements which the police alleged thev had made previously. Mr. F. H. Levien, S.M.. said that complainant had a perfect right to work at Westfield when good work was offering. It was a great pity that three young men had gone back on their statements.
