HITLER’S CLAIM
German Chancellorship NOT ENTIRELY RULED OUT London, Nov. 20. In the absence of an authorised statement it is suggested that President Hindenburg did not entirely rule out Herr Hitler’s claim to the Chancellorship, but insisted on conditions, such as adherence to the gold standard, and Dr. von Papen’s economic programme with the enforcement of import quotas. Herr Hitler counts on receiving the support of Catholics and the People’s Party, and some of the smaller parties to give him a Reichstag majority. The fact that Dr. von. Neurath has gone to Geneva suggests that he expects to retain his portfolio and negotiate with authority.
