QUEEN CONTEST

‘Happiness Week’ Campaign INCREASED INTEREST SHOWN Increasing enthusiasm is being evinced in the Queen Contest, which forms one o£ the main activities of the “Happiness Week” campaign, planned by Mr. D. D. McDonald in aid of the Mayor’s Distress Fund. The committees and sub-commit-tees working in the interests of the five candidates for the honour of “Queen of Happiness Week” are exploring every avenue to derive votes for their nominees and Wellington is being divided into several camps, each fighting for one of the queens. Last week opened the main campaign, but from now on to the last night of “Happiness Week,” December 3, the pace will be accentuated and many functions, processions and drives of various kinds are planned to take place. It has been stated that ‘Happiness Week” activities have tended to promote a better tone in business generally and when it is considered that every activity promoted by the various committees means putting money into circulation tins fact becomes apparent.
