YACHTS IN HIGH WIND
Keen Sport on Saturday MAIN EVENT TO VIOLA Races for keel yachts were held hy the Evans Bay Yacht and Motor-boat Club on Saturday afternoon. The strong northerly wind made things extremely lively for. the yachtsmen, and the full force of the blow was felt near Koro Koro, where some very tricky manoeuvring was required. . z. 1 C. Neal’s Viola was placed first on corrected times, although Wairere II was first home in the first class race, and in the second class event Galatea, . the scratch boat, was first home, and retained her position when times were adjusted. Betty won the Rona-Jellicoe race. Scandal the 18ft. 'and under race, and Colleen the 13ft. and ; under .class race. Only three boats started in’the. second class race, and none finished.
