Meeting at Mangamutu Mangamutu W’omen’s Institute meeting held on Wednesday, November 9, was well attended, Mrs. Hamilton presiding. After the “Ode to Friendship had been sung. Potatoes were distributed for the shield competition. While afternoon tea was being partaken of Miss Nancy Curtin played a piano solo. _ In her opening remarks Mrs. Crewe thanked Mrs. Hamilton for the welcome extended her. She congratulated the president and- the secretary on the efficient manner in-which they had conducted the meeting, r? Taranaki Federation, Inglewood The October meeting of the Inglewood Institute was held recently,, a good attendance being presided over bv Miss Trimble. After the business routine was carried out the programme took the form of demonstrations of. arts and crafts, being given by various members of the institute. Stencilling was shown by Mrs. Adnams, tatting bv Mrs. Leech, specimens of fancy needlework by Mrs. Tait and Mrs. Braybrooke. hooked rug-making demonstrated by Mrs. Harwood, flax and raffia baskets by Mrs. Kivell, and use of crepe paper for weaving' by Mrs. Porter. , ~ The competition for the afternoon was the best' jar of flowers, arranged and won by Mrs. Adnams. An enjoyable afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mesdames Hobbs, Hodges,and Haverton, Mrs. Porter taking charge of the members’ stall.
