AUSTRALIAN TRADE

Union Cargo Service The following are the, movements of Union Company vessels engaged in its intercolonial cargo service:— The Gabriella is due at Newcastle today to load for Wellington and Miramar. She is due here early next week, and after discharge returns to Newcastle and Sydney to load for Wanganui. The Kalingo left Wellington on Saturday for Greymouth to load for Sydney, thence to Newcastle to load for Napier and Gisborne. She will then proceed to Greymoutli to load for Brisbane and Sydney. The Kanna is due at Wellington about Wednesday from Greymoutli, and returns to Westport and’Greymouth to load for Sydney, thence to Newcastle to load for Wellington. The Karcpo, at present undergoing overhaul and survey at Auckland, is to leave there oji December 1 for Westport and Greymoutli to load for Melbourne. She will then load at Adelaide, Edithburg, Melbourne and Hobart for Biuff, Lyttelton, Wellington, and Auckland. The Karetu, from Newcastle, left Sydney last Friday for Lautoka, Suva, Nukualofa and Auckland. She is due at Auckland on December 7. .

The Kiwitea, from Greymouth and Westport, is due at Melbourne to-day. She will later proceed to Edithburg. Adelaide and Melbourne to load for New Plymouth, Auckland, 'Napier and Wellington. The Waikouaiti, from Newcastle, is to leave Sydney to-day for Bluff, Dunedin, Tiniaru and Lyttelton. She will then return, via Bluff, to Sydney and Newcastle to load again for Bluff, Dunedin, Tiniaru and Lyttelton. The Wainui, from Wellington, via Bluff, was due at Melbourne on Saturday. She will leave there again on Wednesday for Bluff, Dunedin, Lyttelton and Wellington and is due here on December 7. PIAKO AT LONDON. The New Zealand Shipping Company has received cabled advice that the Piako reached London last Friday. She left Auckland on. September 28 for London, via Cape Horn, Montevideo aud Las Palmas. REMUERA LEAVES COLON. Cabled advice has been received by the New Zealand Shipping Company that its liner Remuera, which left Auckland on October 27 for London, cleared Colon last Thursday. TASMANIA LOADING. The New Zealand Shipping Company s steamer Tasmania reached New Plymouth yesterday from Sydney to commence her Homeward loading. She is due at Wellington on Wednesday for further loading, and will later complete at Napier and Auckland, clearing the northern port finally on December 6 for London, via Cape Horn, Montevideo and Las Palmas. KARAMEA LOADING. r The Shaw-Savill motor-ship Karamea reached Bluff yesterday morning from Brisbane to commence her .Homeward loading. She is to leave there again tomorrow for Lyttelton, New Plymouth, Wellington, Napier and Auckland to complete. The Karamea is due here on No vember 30, and is scheduled to clear Auckland finally on December 12 for London, Avonmouth, Liverpool and Glasgow, via Cape Horn and Las Palmas. WAIMANA LEAVES LONDON. The Shaw-Savill Company has received cabled advice that the Waimana,'ex Herminius, left London last Friday morning in ballast for New Zealand, via the Cape of Good Hope and Sydney. She is due in New Zealand on January 6 to load Homewards.

MAKURA AT ’FRISCO. Cabled advice has been received by the Union Company that its R.M.S.-Makura, from Sydney and Wellington, reached San Francisco at 8 a.m. last Friday. She will leave there again on Wednesday for Papeete, Rarotonga, Wellington, and Sydney, and is due here on December 12.

MATAI’S MOVEMENTS. . . The Government steamqr Matai is to leave Auckland on Wednesday morning to complete her tour bf the northern lights. She is due back at Wellington about December 7

OLIVEBANK AT AUCKLAND. With a cargo of raw sugar from Java, the Bank Line motor-ship Olivebank reached Auckland last Friday night.

TWO TANKERS DUE. The Shell Oil Company’s tanker Ampullania is due at Wellington to-day trom Balik Papan, and will berth at the Burnham Wharf to discharge bulk motor-epirit, She will later proceed to Lyttelton, The Vacuum Oil Company s tafaker Vacuoline is due at Wellington to-day or to-morrow from San Francisco, and will berth at the Point Howard Wharf to discharge bulk motor spirit She will later proceed to Sydney and Brisbane to complete discharge,

AUCKLAND SERVICE. . , The Wingatui, from Auckland, arrived at Wellington yesterday morning, and -berthed at No. 1 north Queens Wharf. ■She is to leave here again to-morrow lor Lyttelton and Dunedin, and returns via ports to Wellington and Auckland.. The Waimarino, from Dunedin, via ports, is due at Wellington on Thursday, and goes on to Auckland. The Waipiata is to leave Auckland on Thursday for Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin and Bluff, and is due here next Sunday.

TO LOAD SCRAP METAL. Advice has been received that the Japanese steamer Shinnoh Maru is scheduled to arrive at Lyttelton on December 17 to load scrap metal for Japan. The vessel will complete loading at Auckland, where she will load about 4000 tons of scrap metal. She is due at Auckland about December 24, and will leave about January 3 for Japan. The Sbinnoh Maru \is a British-built vessel, of 48SS tons, having been constructed at Newcastle-on-tyne in 1912. Her first name was Birina, which was afterward changed to Birma Maru, and later to her present name.

THE ARMADALE. The A. and A. Line chartered motorship Armadale is scheduled to leave New York to-morrow for Auckland. Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin. She is due at Auckland early in January. ( .

NORFOLK PASSES HEADS. The Federal steamer Norfolk, bound from Napier to Wanganui, passed the Wellington Heads at 9 a.m. yesterday. Hie Norfolk is due at Wellington to-morrow from Wanganui to complete her Homeward loading, and is scheduled to clear this port finally next Friday for London, Glasgow, Liverpool, and Avonmouth, via Cape Horn, Montevideo and Dakar.

NEW DUNEDIN TRAWLER. . A new departure in fishing craft in these parts is embodied in a powerful motor-trawler at present on the stocks ot Messrs. Miller and Tonnages yard at Port Chalmers (states the. ‘P>medm Star”). The new feature is that tins vessel is to be equipped with a freezing chamber having a capacity of six tons. Being built to the order of Messrs. Hayward Bros., the new trawler Mill have Dunedin as her home port, but tviH try out the deep-water fishing, grounds around the coast. Her diiffbnsions of »Oft., m length, with 12ft. 6in. bemn and UH. draught, will enable her to navigate the coast in practically any weather, her 3b h.p. Diesel engine giving a speed of nine knots.
