OLD CARS PARADE
Types Now Antiquated AMUSING PROCESSION As a means of advertising the Traffic Queen in the Mayor’s “Happiness Week” queen contest, a procession of vehicles old and new was staged in Wellington yesterday. The procession was led by a number of old “crocks” that in their day were the last word in luxury. An old tiller-steered two-seater of a vintage of about 1900 created much amusement, as did the buggy car of a slightly later date. Various cars of the days when men wore extraordinary clothes for driving and women kept their straw boaters precariously perched on top of padded coiffeurs by means of unsightly veils tied under the chin were In the procession. More modern cars followed, several of the very latest models bringing up the rear.
