DAMAGED HIDES
Wastage in Australia Sydney, Nov. 18. Within the past ten years the wastage in hides due chiefly to careless branding, slaughtermen’s knives, and barbed wire has cost the Australian leather industry £8 million. Master tanners are appealing to cattlemen to brand on the shoulder In letters not more than three inches in length. They declare that great damage has been done through unsatisfactory branding, and flaying often amounted to. 10/per skin.
