QUALITY OF HIDES
Better Article Now Produced Freezing companies throughout New Zealand are giving attention to the quality of pelts, and steps are being taken to bring about a general improvement, according to a statement by the Prime Minister when the estimates of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research were before the House of Representatives. Mr. Forbes said the department had been concerning itself with the quality of New Zealand hides, and he was able to say that as the result of recent Improvements. a better article was being turned out at present than for some time. The freezing companies themselves were doing what they could to effect improvements, and more care was being taken not to damage skins at tlui works. Any improvement that could be effected would be beneficial to. the trade generally.
