METHODIST SYNOD
Governor-General’s Interest APPRECIATION EXPRESSED Dominion Special Service. ' , ' Masterton, Nov. IS. The final session of the annual Wellington District Synod of the Methodist Church was held yesterday. A resolution was heartily, carried recording appreciation of his Excellency the GovernorGeneral’s unfailing interest in and support of Christian w.ork, especially that among the young people of the Dominion. On the question of disarmament, the .synod in view of the summarised cable report of the Hon. Stanley Baldwin’s speech, declared itself of the opinion that the present critical position in Europe could only, be met and civilisation saved by the definite advocacy of complete disarmament in accordance with what they believed to represent the teaching of Jesus Christ. A report from the committee to improve the efficiency of conference did not find favour with the Synod, the outcome being a, suggestion that the next conference entrust the question to the Wellington district executive. The Synod recommended that the distact secretary next year should be the Rev. 11. J. Odell, also that the district representative on the stationing committee should be the Rev. E. O: Blamires, his substitute to be the Rev.. H. J. Odell. The next Synod will be held at the Taranaki Street Church, Wellington.
