Civic League is Concerned In the opinion of the Wellington Civic League it is essential that a closer supervision be exercised over the removal of sand and shingle from the city beaches. “As the authorities are aware that despoiling has taken place, it is confidently anticipated that these acts of vandalism will not be repeated,” states the annual report of the league. -“Destruction of natural features is to be deplored.
“In Nature’s kingdom it is easier to break than to build, and this truism can be easily verified by observing the wanton destruction of the picturesque pinnacle rock at Houghton Bay.”
