FREE KINDERGARTEN

Mothers’.Club Gives Dance A. large number of children and adults were present at a plain, poster, and fancy dress dance, which was. field, in the Trades.and Labour Hall, Vivian Street, on Saturday afternoon. The dance was organised by members of the Free Kindergarten Mothers’ Club, to provide funds for the Taranaki: Street Free Kindergarten’s Annual Christmas party. Mr. P. Fraser, M.P., in declaring the party open, expressed pleasure at seeing so many present, and congratulated the mothers and children on. the originality and variety shown in the fancy costumes. The programme commenced with the Graud March, during Which the dresses were judged by Misses Wilson and Page. The prizes were presented by Mrs. P. Fraser. There were numerous prizes given for poster, fancy, original, and paper costumes. . . ! , The children heartily took part in various games organised by Mb. Ritchie. There was a playlet. "King Henry and Catherine Parr,” played by Misses Vardey, Wright, and Carrick, and some dancing by a group of small boys and girls. The members of the Club served afternoon tea to the. adults in the sup-per-room, and the children seated in a big circle on the floor of the hall, were entertained by students from the Taranaki Street Kindergarten.
