OVERCOME BY GAS
Man Almost Asphyxiated
Found in a semi-asphyxiated condition on the floor of his bathroom, where he had been adjusting a gas waterheater. Mr. George Burney, a mirror manufacturer, who lives at 1 Easdale Street, off-Bolton Street, was taken to the hospital late yesterday afternoon suffering from gas poisoning. It is understood that Mr. Burney had intended fixing the heater for some time past, and finally decided to do so when he and his family returned from an outing yesterday. What actually happened is not known, but it is surmised that while he was adjusting the heater he must have breathed in an excess of escaping fumes. Mr. Burney was attended io by the Free Ambulance and, taken to the hospital. His condition late last night was described as fair.
