Cricket Championships TENNIS, BOWLS AND GOLI’ The features of the outdoor programme to-day will be the continuation of the cricket championship competitions which were postponed on Saturday last on account of rain. Two matches will be concluded on the Basin Reserve. Wellington College Old Boys, with 2S on for the loss of no wickets, will endeavour to head Midland’s score of 226, and Petone, with 55 on without loss, should have no difficulty in passing University’s modest total of 167. Kilbiruie, who have scored 42 for one wicket, will have to bat well to head Wellington’s 303 on the Kilbirnie ground. Hutt, with lOS on for the loss of one wicket, should score a comfortable win over Institute on the Hutt Recreation Ground. Championship games in all other grades will also be continued. Bowls Programme. The official opening of I’limmerton Bowling, Croquet and Tennis Club will take place at 2 p.m., and this will bring all greens in the Wellington Centre into active play. The Saturday centre competitions do not commence until November 12, and most of the clubs will be engaged in the opening rounds of club rinks events today. z Lawn Tennis. Tennis will be in full swing at the various club courts to-day. Inter-club competitions will begin at Miramar next Saturday. The opening ceremony of the Thorndon Lawn Tennis Club which was to have been held this afternoon has now been postponed until next Saturday, November 5. Rifle Shooting. The Suburbs Defence Rifle Club will continue its championshipAserics to-day with a match over SOO and 900 yards. Tho Golf Card. The chief event on to-day’s golfing card will be the continuation of the Hutt club s Winter Cup tournament. The semi-finals for the cup will be played this morning, and the final this afternoon. Four-ball competitions will be played both morning and afternoon to-morrow. The Shandon dub will play its monthly bogey competition to-day, and the third round of the Wilford Cup must be played during the weekend.
