BULL IN QUARANTINE
Valuable Red Poll on Somes Island Now in quarantine on Somes Island in Wellington Harbour is a valuable Red Poll bull which Sir Heaton Rhodes has imported from Melbourne for his “Otahuna” estate in Tai Tapu, Canterbury. Sir Heaton purchased the bull from the Hon. T. 11. Payne, of Victoria, who for some years has been importing Red Polls from the best strains in England, and who is a well-known prize-winner at Australian shows. On account of the infectious diseases regulations the bull was kept in quarantine at Launceston for six months, and following its arrival in New Zealand by the Wainui on October 20 it has to spend another 40 days in quarantine on Somes Island. Sir Heaton intends to visit the island this morning.
