MEN PROTECTED, TOO
Not, Women and Children Only MRS. SPROTTS REMARKS “Women can look after themselves—it’s we poor men who need the protection.” That was the sentiment encountered occasionally by Mrs. Sprott, wife of the Bishop of Wellington, during the years when she was a field worker for the Society for the Protection of Women and Children. Mrs. Sprott mentioned it at the society’s annual meeting last evening and created a good deal ot amusement. “I remember,” she said, in the few years I was connected with this society we had sometimes not only women, but men, coming to get advice. And in some cases we even gave the men advice against the women. (Laughter.) Although bur name is the ‘Society for the Protection of Women and Children’ we are only here to protect the women who need protection. We are ready to protect the men, too!
