WEEK-END GOLF

Manor Park Cluh On Saturday the Mapor Park Golf Club will play an iIS-hole stroke competition. The following players, who tied with net 72 last week-end, will play off. in conjunction with this competition:—F. Page, AV. J. Hendry, D. Butler. The two-life four-bail competition must be completed during the week-end, J. Ogilvie and A. Radford playing D. Cody and AV. S. Barr, these being the Only players left in the competition, both sides having lost one game. The finals of the flight competition, post, poned from last week, .owing lo the weather, will be played this week, the finalists being:—No. 1 group, V. Hay v. E. Rodgers; No. 2 group, 3. S. T. H. Pope v. D. Porter; No. 3 group, J. Higgs v. W. S. Barr. November 6 has been decided upon as closing day, and the morning will be allotted a mixed Canadian foursome. During the afternoon long-driving and approaching and trophies competitions will be held, after which trophies won during the season will bo presented. MANOR PARK LADIES’ CLUB The final of the Ladies’ Golf Union competition of the season will be played by the Manor Park Ladies’ Chib on Saturday, players to arrange their own partners. The Canadian foursome IS-hole medal round, postponed from Labour Day, will, be played during fhe week-end. The final for the open championship, between Mrs. Butler and Miss Stevens, and the final in the junior, between Miss Fairbrother aud Mrs. Burns, will also be played this week-end. SHANDON ~LADIES A medal round will be played by the Shandon Ladies’ Week-end Club over the weekend for the secretary’s trophy for players on 30 to 36 handicaps, players to arrange their own partners. paekakarFki club The senior championship of the Paekakariki club was won by F. Kember at the 37th help. In the final of the junior championship, K. G. Twiss beat A. Gollop, 7 and 5. A mixed foursome event played over the week-end was won by Mr. and Mrs. F. McNeil, with 68 net. Williamson Grand Opera Company have arrived at AVellington and a full scenery and lighting rehearsal will take’ place this evening under the supervision of the stage manager, Air. Leslie Donaghey, Signorina Valobra, one of the foremost stars of the company, is a specialist in Puccini's operas, aud is one of the youngest sopranos heard at the I.a Scala Theatre in Milan. In “Madame Butterfly” she will appear with Primo Montanari, a distinguished tenor, from the leading. Continental Opera House, who will sin* the role of Pinkerton, and Ilio Del Chiaro, a famous young baritone from Colon Theatre, will appear as Sharpies. Michele Fiore, who has been proclaimed by Toscanini as the greatest living singer of comic roles, will take the role of the Prince of Yamadori, and Miss Jeanette Rooney will appeal- as Suzuki.
