Death of Mr. Mcllwraith The death occurred at Woodcot, Salcombe, South Devon, on October 19 of Mr. Andrew Mcllwraith, one of the' founders of the shipping firm of Mcllwraith, MeEacharn Ltd. Mr. Mcllwraith, who was born at Ayr, Scotland, in 1543, established the firm as Mcllwraith, MeEacharn and Co. in February, 1575, at London, in conjunction with Sir Malcolm MeEacharn, and was* connected with it until his death. He made several trips to Australia after the head office of the firm was transferred from London to Melbourne, the last being about 20 years ago. The firm was the first to engage in the frozen meat trade between Australia and Great Britain with the steamer Strathleven. Mr. Mellwraith is survived by two daughters, Mrs. David Hunter, of St George’s Road, Toorak, and Mrs. T. N. G. Jennings, of London. Of his three sons, two perished in the Boer War and the third died recently.
