THE FLOWER GARDEN Chrysanthemums can now be planted out in t.heir permanent positions. Ground should have been well worked and manured. Plant out. dahlias as directed in to day s article on the subject. Sow aster seed in open ground prepared as previously directed. Sow further packets of zinnia seed in boxes. Disbud carnations and attend to stakes. Stake delphiniums and hollyhocks. Sow seeds of all hardy annuals. Koop 11 lookout for aphis on roses, and spray whore necessary. Diist with flowers of sulphur to prevent mildew on roses, delphiniums and perennial asters.
THE VEGETABLE PATCH Thin out all vegetable.seedlings. Plant out tomatoes in warm, sheltered positions. Beans may now be planted. Marrows and pumpkins can also be planted out now. Make further sowings of pens, carrots, beet, lettuce, and radishes. Earth up potatoes, but before doing so a little manure should be sprinkled along the rows. Keep the soil free, and broken between vegetables rows. Onions, in particular, respond to frequent hoeings. Spray peaches and nectarines for leal eurl (Bordeaux -1-4-10 or lime sulphur (1-125).
