APPEAL FOR FUNDS
Communism in Australia .Sydney, Oct. 25. The magistrate decided to convict Francis Devanny, alleged to be the publisher of the “Workers’ Weekly,” on a charge of having published an appeal for funds for the Communist Party, which was described as an “unlawful association within the meaning of the Crimes Act.” Devanny was remanded for sentence to October 31. Bail was allowed. The other defendants in the case are Robert Gray, Samuel Frew, and Joseph Ryan.
