BOAT FOR WORKLESS
Lower Hutt Fishing Scheme NEW CRAFT LAUNCHED The launching of another boat yesterday will give the Lower Hutt Relief Committee further facilities for providing fish for the local unemployed. The committee now has two boats in operation, both of which were the gifts of Mr. J. W. Andrews, of Lower Hutt. The craft are 16ft. 6in. in length, and have a beam of sft. 6in. The first boat was christened “Ruth A.,” after Mr. Andrews’s daughter, and the second was yesterday christened “Latham A.,” after his son. Having been conveyed to Pt. Howard on a motor-truck, the boat was taken to the beach, where Mr. Andrews formally performed the christening ceremony. The bottle was broken over the prow, and the craft was launched und manned by her crew. A trial run was macle with the builder and his assistants, who pronounced the boat entirely seaworthy.
